First, congratulations on your decision, you are very young and you are already asking the right questions. Hair and make up for me is comparable to other art related professions, but it has to do with altering ourselves/others. For you to be able and help other people to change their image and make them look at their best, I would strongly suggest you take drawing/sketching classes and learn the human body, face and features. Classes such as painting and sculpture at the minimum will develop your ';senses'; and you will be able to do hair/makeup like a real professional. My sister-in-law just graduated from community college program and now she is looking into taking drawing of the body, and painting. After all makeup is simply painting someone, underlining their best features and ';cover'; their imperfections. Hair - is the other side of the coin, because is 3D, Sculpture will help you understand the three-dimensionality and develop the necessary skills.

Good luck,

Mila
