You wont get much pay but you could learn a lot by

i think you have to go to makeup school or do a course in theatrical makeup my cousin did this and shes a makeup artist on soaps etcHow do i find a job doing hair and makeup in a theartre?
A friend of mine is a Wig master. He works in the West End and America. Firstly, he trained as a hairdresser at a local college and got into theatre work after he had qualified.


He has done ' Phantom of the Opera' 'Amadeus' and other big shows.


My brother started by working for Yorkshire Television and cut his teeth on Emmerdale Farm. He now does films, television and America. These two do know each other so seem to keep each other in work.


Colleges offer courses in both hair and make up but to get into Hollywood you have to be special, be able to do something extra like prosthetics ( making people look old/young/burnt/ugly/deformed/alien etc etc.)


Start with your local college and buy ' The Stage' every week. Offer your services free to a local theatre, and build from there. Good luck.

And you have extensive education (vidal sasoon, toni %26amp; guy, Redken exchange ) ?


Have to start out at the bottom, assisting.


Have a great portifolio helps too.


But hey, remember we all have to start somewhere. Assisting was the worst but it also was the time I learned the most.


Make-up has thier schools, there is MUD in Los Angeles, they specialize in make-up for the theatre and film.


Usually you pick one, hair or make-up.

it's alot of hard work but it's worth it.
If you want to do Hair in Hollywood, it takes someone with some pull to get you in there, but you have to be damn good too.


Attitude is a must.


The best hair dressers in Hollywood are Gay and there is a reason for that.





They can tolerate more than average people because they have great atributes.





My hairdresser in Hollywood is Gay and he lives in a mansion I kid you not. He makes more money than I do and all he does is cut hair in Hollywood.
